JW Marriott offers Tampa Water Street and Tampa Marriott Water Street Matthew Brennan As the new Executive Chef of the complex.

In his role, Chef Brennan will oversee the culinary efforts of the sister properties, both located adjacent to the Convention Center in Tampa’s vibrant Water Street neighborhood.

“We are very fortunate to have Matthew join our Water Street team,” said Ron McAnaugh, General Manager, Real Estate District.

“As a proven leader with a proven track record, he is sure to elevate our offerings with his culinary expertise, making our hotels a dining destination for both guests and locals alike.”

A graduate of America’s most prestigious culinary institute, Brennan began his career under Chef Jean Robert de Cavell at the world-famous Le Maisonette in Cincinnati. He also refined his craft with stints at Four Seasons Lanai in Hawaii, Denver Marriott City Center in Colorado, and Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club, where his team has been awarded the Top 5 Food Quality for Restaurants for three consecutive years. Most recently, Brennan worked as an Executive Chef at the Columbus Downtown Renaissance Hotel. As operational commander, he has been named “Commander in Chief” at three different Marriott hotels. Originally from farmland in rural Ohio, Matthew’s passion in the kitchen lies in making simple ingredients look and taste amazing, with a cooking technique rooted in Northern Italian, French and Spanish cuisine.

“Tampa’s dining scene is growing by leaps and bounds, and I’m excited to bring my culinary vision to the city.”

The dining options available in the complex include:

  • Drift: Named after the luminous bridges of Tampa, this casual eatery serves regional, farm-to-table and ocean-to-table cuisine served in an open and airy setting perfect for any occasion.
  • six: Here, diners savor chef specialties in a modern American bistro with indoor and outdoor dining overlooking the rooftop pool and Gulf frontage. SIX offers friendly elegance across six floors, creating an oasis for local visitors and hotel guests alike.
  • Anchor and core: With an upscale but accessible seafood menu and a beautifully designed raw bar, Anchor and Brine is on the water along Tampa’s Riverwalk with indoor and outdoor terrace dining options.
  • Garrison Tavern: Providing guests with a complete dining and entertainment experience, Garrison Tavern is a unique venue in Tampa’s evolving culinary scene and features Florida’s first Topgolf Swing that offers a virtual and immersive sports experience.
  • Waterside Café: Sample classic American cuisine in a comfortable setting, perfect for indoor dining or al fresco for a casual breakfast. Accessible from the Tampa Riverwalk, this waterfront restaurant serves delicious breakfast fare.
