Dusit Thani Maldives Appoints Paul Elliot King

Dusit Thani Maldives, a luxurious Thai-inspired resort on Mudhdhoo Island in Baa Atoll, has been appointed British Chef Mr. Paul Elliot King as a new Executive Chef to lead an exciting new era of culinary creativity in its already famous restaurants.

Chef Paul brings to his role over 30 years of experience leading culinary teams for luxury hotels and resorts in the UK and Asia. He began his illustrious career in the late 1980s in London, UK, where he honed his skills working in famous city landmarks such as The Savoy and The Dorchester. Since 2009, he has continued to expand his horizons – and his flair – with executive positions in award-winning real estate in Asia.

His gastronomic adventures outside England began with tenures as Executive Chef at Hilton Hotels in Vietnam and the Maldives. From 2013, he then oversaw culinary operations at Jumeirah Vittaveli in Male, managing a battalion of 51 chefs, followed by Kuredu Island Resort & Spa – the second largest resort in the Maldives – where he, in tandem, held the position of CEO. Chef, appointed Head of HACCP, responsible for the outstanding leadership and HACCP certification of the resort.

His passion for health and safety in food led him back to his native England during the COVID-19 pandemic to work in an executive role at J Sainsburys Plc, the UK’s second largest supermarket chain, where he was responsible for ensuring high quality nutritional standards for customers.

Now, with island life calling once again, he joins the Dusit Thani Maldives team to bring his passion for culinary excellence to the table.
