With travel restrictions eased, hundreds of jobs have become available at Manchester Airport.

There are more than 550 direct jobs available with Manchester Airports Group (MAG) – which operates Manchester, East Midlands and Stansted airports – and range from security officers, customer service officers and parking clerks to hospitality and lounge workers.

More than 1,000 other jobs are also available at companies operating at the three airports, including ground handling workers, cleaning firms, convenience stores and restaurants.

Third parties at MAG that have jobs on offer at Manchester Airport include, Ryanair, Swissport, UK Border Force, Menzies and ABM.

A virtual job fair to learn about many of these roles will be held on Tuesday, January 25th via Microsoft Teams.

The easing of Covid restrictions – first implemented to help curb the Omicron variant – provided a boost to the travel sector, with consumer confidence soaring and bookings increasing in the days following the announcement.

The news paved the way for the travel industry to recover strongly this year, especially ahead of the busy summer season.

airport security officer

Part of the security team, this job entails manually searching cabin and passenger baggage, operating x-ray machine and body scanners and patrolling the terminals.

No prior security experience is required and full training will be offered.

A permanent annual working hour contract is offered, which means you get paid for 38 or 31 hours per week. However, at peak times, you may be required to work extra hours or at quieter times, you may be required to work less than 38 or 31 hours per week.

This does not affect your salary which is consistently paid at 38 or 31 hours a week despite the hours you may work.

You will need to be flexible to work 24/7 which will include night shifts, early mornings (starting at 03:00 AM at the earliest), weekends and holidays.

Shifts will vary in length between 4 and 12 hours, so you can expect short-term and long-term shifts.

hospitality host

Join the first class Escape Lounge and 1903 Lounge teams to meet and greet customers as they arrive.

Duties include making and serving drinks, providing ancillary services to guests such as fax, computer access, printing, and helping to keep the lounge organized and clean.

A strong background in the hospitality and service sectors is required and you must be willing to work on a flexible basis.

Lounge opening hours are from 03:30 AM to 9:30 PM, seven days a week.

The contract is on a permanent basis, with 30 or 40 hours per week available.

kitchen assistant

The growing hospitality team is hiring a kitchen assistant to help provide world-class service to lounge guests.

Key responsibilities include ensuring that the kitchen and all storage locations are kept clean and sanitary and that all health and safety standards are adhered to; Receiving all deliveries, making sure all items are properly arrived and put away to ensure inventory is rotated and all waste disposal bins are monitored.

The ideal candidate is someone who has excellent communication, interpersonal skills and attention to detail. Experience in a similar role is desirable.

Manchester Airport is hiring a garden coordinator to maintain its infrastructure, keeping in mind the best gardening standards.

Responsibilities include maintaining interior landscaping within terminal buildings and various office units and ensuring all machinery in use is in safe condition, with any faults reported to the landscape supervisor.

It is necessary to have a professional qualification in horticulture/landscape maintenance/afforestation, with a minimum RHS level 2 or equivalent.

Safe use of pesticide certified Pa1/Pa6 would be beneficial to the application, and CS30 and CS31 chain saw units are desirable but not necessary.

A full British driver’s license is required and preferably with trailer towing experience.

Shifts 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday with no work on weekends.

From April to September, opening hours are from 7am to 4.30pm, while from October to March, the timings are from 8am to 3.30pm.
