The New York Mets have announced their full-season coaching staff for the 2022 season. It was previously announced that Reid Brignac, who played 37 games for the Phillies in 2014, had been promoted to Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies manager after serving as Low-A Port St. Lucie Mets in 2021.

With Brignac’s promotion, he brought two of his coaches with him in 2021 from Port St Lucy. Tommy Joseph, the former Phillies first base officer, will serve as the Rumble Bowness coach, while Jerome Williams, who was with the Phillies from 2014 to 2015, will be the coach.

The latest member of the team is Mariano Duncan, who was part of the 1993 Phyllis team that won the National League flag. He will serve as a coach on the bench for the Rumble Ponies after taking the same position at the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones in 2021. Duncan has served as a minor league coach since 2003, with a stint as the Dodgers’ head coach from 2006 to 2010 under Grady Little and Joe Tory.

Duncan previously trained with Williams at the Kingsport Mets in 2019. Brignac, Williams and Joseph were all in the Phillies organization in 2014.

All these connections led the Mets to accidentally assemble a minor league coaching staff from the former Phillies.
