Emotes are a great way to add personality and character to the Twitch community – they can also get regular viewers to pay for subscriptions. However, one Twitch affiliate partner that’s just starting out used to only have one dedicated slot. Now, the streaming site has raised the initial number of emoticon slots to five, based on affiliates’ feedback. This means that live stream creators can offer five custom emotes from the start, simply by fulfilling the prerequisites needed to become part of the affiliate program. In general, affiliate marketers can earn nine slots for custom emotes by hitting certain subscription milestones.

Twitch is also porting the change over to its partner program, increasing the openings available to them as well. To be able to apply for partner status, the affiliate must reach a certain number of broadcast hours, views, and subscribers. Even then, they may not be able to get in. That is why giving potential subscribers more incentives in the form of emotions can help beginners reach their goal sooner and earn more money.

The site also gave affiliates the ability to deliver animated emotions to their community. They will start with one slot and can open up to five as their audience grows. Those who can’t afford to pay an artist to create animated emojis for them can use the website’s Easy Animate feature to quickly convert static emotions into animated versions for free. These updates are rolling out to Twitch Streamers and will reach everyone in the coming weeks.
