The Turkish Tourism Development and Development Agency (TGA) has joined the Board of Directors of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as an associate member for the period 2022-2025. The TGA is expected to have a critical role in the UNWTO’s goals towards sustainable and resilient tourism development.

In his letter of assignment, Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili noted that TGA is a strong and important partner who will contribute significantly to UNWTO issues such as tourism management and destination promotion in the post-Covid-19 era. Pololikashvili said he expects TGA’s knowledge and experience to add value to the work of the Affiliate Board of Directors.

Dr. Elif Balci Visonoglu, Deputy General Manager in charge of Tourism Operations and Development, will represent TGA on the Board of Directors during this period. Dr. Fisunoğlu has over 25 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry and has worked at TGA since January 2020.
