new writer

This is an exciting, fast-moving role where you will split your work days between providing independent news coverage for road.cc and running the daily Live Blog, a busy small site within road.cc. The ideal candidate could be a journalist with a passion for cycling, or a talented writer looking for your first full-time job in news journalism, with a cycling change lane. You can report highway code changes to your first story of the day and then shortly thereafter write about one of the biggest races on the pro cycling calendar; So it is important that you feel comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Your working days on our live blog will be all of the above, but in small portions and with a slightly different tone of voice. This means that our ideal candidate will have a sense of humor, and will be adept at finding blog-worthy material from social media, news feed or research. You will work with the news editor and editor to shape the site’s daily news agenda, deciding what will lead to the most engagement and traffic.

Familiarity with cycling culture is a must for this role. This doesn’t mean you need to know who came 45th in the 2006 Tour de France, you just need to have that little sticker inside your head that reads “cyclist”.

Main tasks

Search engine optimization manager

We are looking for someone with an interest in data and detail to oversee SEO activity across our portfolio of sites (road.cc, off.road.cc, ebiketips). This is not necessarily a full-time role and can be performed remotely.

Role

  • To monitor search traffic, news and discoveries on road.cc, off.road.cc and ebiketips
  • To audit sites for current performance, and work with the development team to make the necessary changes to improve search performance
  • To monitor the health of sites against Google’s Core Web Vitals metrics, and work with the development team to increase CWV scores
  • To keep abreast of changes and updates in the SEO landscape and to keep editorial and management teams up to date with best practices
  • To identify subject areas where web traffic is high and search performance is poor, and work with editorial teams to address any weak areas in content
  • To measure our sites against competitors’ sites and identify areas for improvement
  • To work with affiliate/commercial teams to help implement best practices for connecting affiliates across the portfolio of sites
  • To be practical in updating the site’s content as necessary to improve search performance
  • To report on SEO performance to the management team on a regular basis

it will be

  • Experienced in SEO and data analysis using a wide range of tools
  • Able to demonstrate experience and success in optimizing search performance on a medium to large site

Affiliate Marketing Manager

Finally, we are looking for an Affiliate Marketing Manager to analyze our current strategy and identify business opportunities for revenue growth. The successful candidate will need to be completely at home and operate in a data-driven digital business environment. They will also need a startup, so a good business background is essential – if you don’t know the ROI from your ROAS, please don’t apply!

Role

  • You will be responsible for leading the affiliate strategy as well as developing effective programs and campaigns
  • You will have a distinct role within the broader commercial team and will work closely with fellow commercial, editorial and publisher
  • You will communicate the effectiveness of the campaign including the competitive landscape and KPIs to key stakeholders
  • You will be responsible for analyzing this data to make recommendations on growth opportunities and risk management
  • A key part of your role is to develop and implement communication strategies to ensure affiliates and market channels are up to date with the latest marketing initiatives and product launches
  • You drive data with a business development mindset. You fully understand business priorities and will use company knowledge and external market data to determine opportunities for commercial success

Experience and qualifications

  • With prior experience in affiliate marketing, you will be someone who is always looking to build relationships with new partners
  • Experience working closely with at least one of our affiliates or subsidiaries (CJ affiliate, skimlinks, monetizer101, Rakuten, AWIN, Affiliate Future)
  • Understand the broader digital space with an eye for emerging trends
  • Good understanding of media buying and how to measure each ad choice
  • Experience in preparing performance reports
  • Must have an understanding of ROI, ROAS, CTR, AOV, CAVE and sponsored conversions,
  • Some knowledge of technical website tracking requirements is desirable
  • Strong understanding of marketing planning and how affiliate marketing fits into the marketing mix
  • High attention to detail, analytical skills and critical thinking combined with excellent verbal and written communication skills
